Yesterdays Wii Fit +

I did go on wiff fit yesterday but I spent most of the time trying to stop my daughter stepping on it with me so I did not do anywhere near as much as I would have liked to.

Todays efforts will be much better though

Wii Fit + Todays activity

Help !!!

I know this smacks of running before walking but i would love to be able to do my lips like this - any advice???

Mizzworthy Illamasqua Contest

I am very much still just practicing but with the prizes on offer ( and a dream that no one else would enter) I thought I would enter the Mizzworthy Illamasqua contest with the theme

Think Outside the Box

I was thinking about this whilst lying in bed in the dark with the rain spattering at my window and all I could think of was doing something monochrome and scary.

Whats more monochrome than………..

A Victorian inspired Silhouette

And whats scarier than………….

I am so scared of birds its unbelieveavble. The scariest thing I have ever ever done is hold a parrot in the hope that seeing her mum being brave would mean my daughter is not instilled with the same irrational fear.

But Birds and monochrome was not enough of a theme for me, as my actual application skills are lacking I wanted to make sure I had a solid theme and plan.

Carrying on the monochrome scary theme, I started looking to my favourite gothic horrors for inspiration of which my favourite is ……..

As I have said before I am by no means a MUA, I cant put lipstick on without smudging it, but I hope that from the (v.poor) attempt ( and my camera skills are as rubbish as my application skills) you can see what my idea would have been and where the inspiration came from.

How to make a bad day (or week) better............

Buy Things !!!

My husband does not much appreciate this ethos but my credit card company does.

I have purchased quite a lot of makeup ( sleek and aromaleigh minerals), some feathers ( so I can get on with my Mizzworthy contest entry) some jewellery and 'Jemma Kidd Make-up' book

and I am now off to have a virtual look around ASOS who are doing free delivery today I believe

I will be reviewing all of the makeup items in detail at some point and will be doing a big feature on the book as I love to write book reviews ( I am also going to look for some diet books to review on my diet blog this afternoon)

The Perfect Food Diary

Do you use a food/exercise diary?
Have you found one that is exaclty what you would like?

I do try to use a food diary, but after spending a lot of money of different types I have yet to find one that fits my needs exactly.

Becuase of this I am planning on taking the best bits from all the diaries I have tried and compiling my own.

I would love this to be a group effort as I ultimately hope to get a small batch printed for friends/followers etc to use - so if you have anything specific you would like or not like from a diary I would love to hear from you.

You can comment here or email me at

Wii Fit anyone ????

I will put my hands up to the fact I have been more than lazy recently - Life has conspired against me but I am going to start fighting back now so I am on full form for new year.

I am going to try and start using my Wii Fit as it should be used, thats on a regular basis as I promised my husband I would be when he agreed to buy it for me.

I will be posting my stats and lists of what exercises ect I do and if any one wants to join me I am more than happy to include other people stats so we can motivate each other ( and I am a bit of a maths geek so I love my graphs).

I hope to be wii-ing with you soon

Aussie inspired makeup ( well a sort of attempt)

When I saw this comp on Lipglossiping I thought I would have a go.
I am rubbish (really rubbish) at putting makeup on but what better way to learn than to practice hey

So the theme is Australia (ish) and this is what popped into my head ( in this order)

Jason Crump ( my biggest crush ever - dont laugh tooooooooo loud)
( I couldnt resist a pic)

Olivia Newton John

Neighbour and Home & Away

Aboriginal art

From that list aboriginal art was the only thing that I could find any insiration in, and what I know about aboriginal art is very little except its natural colours and patterns.

Like this......

As I thought about it some more this picture popped into my head..

Its at this point I decided I would try a look, both incorporating some kind of aboriginal insipred pattern and some natural neutral colours

As we are now about to start viewing the pictures I will point out that not only is my technique rubbish but so is my camera but I hope you can get the gist.

My Look :Natural

For this look I used mostly mineral makeup in very natural colours and I put a slight wave in my hair with my straightners

This was my plan:

and this is how it ended up..............

My makeup collection

Heres mine but its very very poorly organised as we have no space.

The majority is kept in the wardrobe which I can get at if needed but its not ideal as then i loose track of what i own and i tend to stick to the colours i already have out.
It's organised into 2 boxes for eye products, 1 for lips and 1 for face

I have a small draw full of my every day work proucts and a separate box for my mineral samples but as i am getting more and more of these i think i will need to find a new way to organise them.

I would love to see your collections so that i can get some storage ideas and prove to my husband that i am in fact normal owning so much makeup

Chery Cole Abs with Yogalates

This article was recently featured in Look Magazine and took my interest as my baby belly is my main bug bear (not my only one by miles but my main one).

I have never done yoga and never done pilates so why I think I can do a mixture of the 2, I have no idea but the article inspired me to purchase this

which I have yet to try but I will be doing as soon as I am over yet another stinking cold ( and I will post a review)

I am also hoping my personal trainer will be able to show me proper form on the exercises mentioned in the article so I can give them a go - what do you think J ???

What have your experiences with yogalates been???

Kate Moss – My 2pence worth

“Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels”

Having heard Kate branded ignorant for making this comment, mainly from the fashion world, I wanted to share my views and get the views of others in the diet and exercise world.

I am not pro anorexia for one second; I know how devastating anorexia can be on a whole family, even a generation down the line, from personal experience.

And yet I am not anti- anorexia. That would be like being Anti-Flu!!! I am someone who suffers with mental illness, it’s not a choice I made but it’s something I have to live with and need support to get over, just as people suffering with anorexia do.

Onto my point, the mantra Kate mentioned is one I have personally read in diet books and listened to on diet hypnotherapy cd’s.

This dieting paraphernalia is not branded as being pro-anorexia so why should she be???

I am never going to be skinny but I don’t want to and won’t chastise those people who have more willpower than I do, and get meet their own goals.

What do you think?

I am an advertisers dream come true

Not 2 minutes after a nails inc special offer email had popped into my inbox had I ordered all of this.

But in my defence I did only spend £35  as the majority was freebies.
Thats less than £3.50 and item which would have been criminal to miss

Criminal in a fashion police sense and I am already on a suspended sentence

Im feeling 'GREY' at the minute - any good makeup colour/brand/product suggestions?

My New Bible - GossMakeupArtist

Why did no one tell me about this guy before !!!

He is fantastic and for those of you like me who didnt know who he is ,you do now, and you can find him here and here

I have been desparately trying to learn how to apply blusher and contour so as soon as my new ELF brushes turn up i will be flicking back to this post for some guidance

Wish me luck ( and if my attempts are vaguely successful i may post pictures ( or i will wait for halloween if its not too good))

Super Cute Jewellery - kenneth Jay Lane

Anything remotely to do with strawberries is always a fav due to the memories i already have of my daughter and her favourite fruit. I was so glad when i stumbled upon this range on ASOS (ordering 2 new work tops and some dainty doll (ssshhhhhh - my husband thinks its a clothes range!!) using super saver delivery) as its given me lots of nice things to add to my xmas list,

They are my particular faves,What do you think??

Change of Direction

I have decided as my life Is taking a change of direction the blog really should too, but as I didn’t want to start a new one I thought the following would give you an insight into the changes.

First of all the name change, I think a dream of being a recognisable alternative model was a bit unrealistic and whilst I loved doing all the shoots I did, as my daughter grows older the time I have to shoot gets less and less. And whilst I am definitely an alternative girl at heart that’s not really practical for playgroup get togethers and 9-5 office work.

So the aim of the blog is now to record my journey of STYLE self discovery which hopefully with the help of my readers/followers/blogs and lots of glossy magazines should be painless.

I love makeup and I love clothes and I love to write ( I am going to be sad and post pics of some of my writing certs etc. at some point) so this is going to combine the 3.

I really want this to be a group effort, I follow a lot of blogs by beautiful women who very much have their own sense of style and can write about it effectively so I will be drawing on their advice (and sharing it) in the hope someone will get something from mine.

I would love anyone who reads this to comment with a link to their own blog (free advertising – of sorts) and links to any other blog I or my other readers might enjoy.

PS. As I have said In the past any shopping ideas are very much appreciated (who does not love virtual online shopping) and i will always try to add something extra to my basket for you

Quote(s) of the Day - Helena Rubinstein

Hard work keeps the wrinkles out of the mind and spirit.
Leave the table while you still feel you could eat a little
There are no ugly women, only lazy ones.
Whether you are sixteen or over sixty, remember,
understatement is the rule of a fine makeup artist.

I think that I think about thinking too much

Can you successfully diet whilst suffering with depression ?
Can you successfully recover from depression whilst trying to diet ?
Exercise makes you feel more motivated but how do you get motivated to exercise?
If you do loose weight will that make your depression better?
Does trying to diet take up energy that could be used to make the depression better?

They are just some of the things I think about on a regular basis. I probably think about these type of things too much and if I just got on with it I would be skinny and as happy as larry.

I tend to find I am too tired to exercise after a hard day at work but I don’t think the doctors suggestion of cutting down my work hours will help my depression as I could just see myself spending that extra time in my house with no adult company.

I need to keep taking my medication but I think these are hampering my weight loss

Should I have been exercising instead of writing this???

There are a few things I have done though which may help one and not hinder the other:
· I now take extra B vitamins and magnesium.
· I have just brought a lumie clock that should hopefully regulate my sleep patterns and mean I have more energy when I am awake
· I have still dramatically cut down on the amount of dairy products I consume which should help the diet and depression
· I am drinking more green/herbal tea which should help the diet and doesn’t over load me with caffeine.

Is there anything else I could be doing???

Another diet fad........

If there is a diet fad you can be guaranteed that I am either trying it or I have already tried it (I am not lazy(most of the time) and I know I need to work hard to achieve all my goals blah blah blah but an extra help I think I might be able to get I am going to take)
One of my current Fad’s is the ‘Burner Balm’ a lip balm that claims to help you loose weight and stay energised

Burner Balm contains energising, appetite-suppressing and fat burning ingredients. The revolutionary lip balm is made from pure soy oils, Hoodia and Green Tea extract as well as Chromium Picolinate and Natural Caffeine.
Burner Balm is the revolutionary brainchild of Dr. Allan Kurtz, in response to his patients' concerns about weight gain and lack of energy.
If you are feeling tired, apply Burner Balm ... If you are between meals and feel an urge to snack, apply Burner Balm ... Best used on naked lips or apply under lipstick.
Burner Balm Lip balm has an SPF of 15 and also helps provide a protective barrier from the harsh elements, locking in moisture and preventing dryness and chapped lips.
Let Burner Balm help you with your weight loss!

This is one fad that I have approached wholeheartedly (its sat on my desk in front of me right now as I am typing) as if I can the results It claims for £8.95 and 2 seconds putting on lip balm like i normally would its time and money well spent.

I have not been using it long enough to see weight loss, but I would have expected by now to have more energy and I don’t (in fact I probably feel worse which I am not blaiming on the burner balm but it seems to me to be proof that its not going to do anything)

I can say though that it tastes and smells nice and does cure chapped lips ( but at £8.95 its very expensive just to do that)

I will continue to use it in the (ever dwindling) hope that it well help with weight loss and will report back on this soon.

In the mean time I have some detox tablets and a (very expensive) Lumie lamp to put to the test in trying to increase my energy levels which I will report back on very soon.
